Recently, John Zador (EIC’s Community Engagement Coordinator) spoke in chamber at city hall on behalf of Exchange Inner City in support of Councilor Rebecca Bligh’s motion for a community benefits agreement for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which Vancouver will be a host destination. This motion would prioritize community economic development and the inclusion of Downtown Eastside social enterprises, providing low-threshold employment opportunities, and local procurement to be involved in the planning for the FIFA World Cup in Vancouver. The motion was passed unanimously.
